Description: Early this year there was a series of massive anti-government protests in Kazakhstan that was triggered by a steep rise in oil prices. It was one of the biggest and deadliest protests in the Central Asian nation’s history where more than 12,000 people were arrested and over 200 people were killed. Why did the protests become so violent and what’s the aftermath been like? We wanted to find out and talk to ordinary citizens of Kazakhstan. For the first time ever, we hit the streets of Almaty, Kazakhstan's biggest city, to hear what people have to say. The opinions expressed in this video are those of individual interviewees alone and do not reflect the views of ASIAN BOSS or the general Kazakh population. 0:00 - Intro 1:23 - Why did the protests happen? 4:20 - How big were the protests? 7:04 - Reaction to President Tokayev’s order to “shoot and kill without any warning” 8:43 - If Kazakhstan is an oil-rich nation, why is there so much poverty? 10:50 - People’s monthly income 13:50 - What can the government do to improve the living conditions of Kazakh citizens? 16:13 - Do you think these kinds of events will happen again? 17:22 - Message to global audience Follow us on social media: Instagram ► instagram.com/asianbossmedia/?hl=en Facebook ► facebook.com/asianboss Twitter ► twitter.com/asianbossmedia?lang=en TikTok ► tiktok.com/@asianbossmedia?lang=en
